STOP PRESS! Our sister hotel, The Castle in Bishops Castle, has just won the coveted “Hotel of The Year” Award in the Shropshire Star Tourism Awards. Well done all. And here at Pen-y-D, we were pleased to be included in a very elite group of Shropshire Hotels last month by The Hotel Guru , a small group of well-known hotel critics, founded by Sunday Telegraph columnist Fiona Duncan. She reviewed us a few months ago in The Sunday telegraph – read the review here . Now I believe there is a technical definition of an Indian Summer (“A warm, calm spell of weather occurring in autumn,” ref BBC website ) but in my book we have had one! Still warm for the time of year, rainy at times, with the promise of night frosts approaching, and some of the leaves still clinging to the trees in glorious shades of red and orange. The hills are looking so inviting for brisk walks, and the National Trust gardens are still packed with herbaceous goodies – Asters, Japanese anomenes, Gladioli, the last of the Roses etc. Must go now – the dogs are waiting for their walk!
