Days finally lengthening. At last! Winter root veg, succulent local Welsh lamb, and hearty puds are flying out of the kitchen. Guests are enjoying the log fires for cream tea and scones, toasting their toes. The weather is still very “usable” (as the BBC say) and all National Trust gardens are still open, in whole or in part – Powis Castle, Attingham Hall, Chirk Castle and Erddig House – all with 30 minutes drive.

We won three hotel awards recently. Sawday’s Special Places gave us their “Favourite Hotel Award 2016″, and The Good Hotel Guide have awarded us two awards – the “Rooms with a View Award 2016” and the “Walking Hotel Award 2016”. We were also runners up for Bestloved Hotels Boutique Hotel Award. We were nominated by the Telegraph last year as one of the Top Five Hotel Gardens in the UK and chosen as one of Britain’s Cosiest Places to Stay in the Sunday Telegraph. Tripadvisor have given us their Certificate of Excellence for 2016 (that’s seven years in a row) and their very top award – the “Five Bubble” review -  “Still wonderful! and has been for years…
