A Shopshire Hotel
This former Georgian rectory offers a slightly different style of service from that typically found in other hotels in Shrewsbury and elsewhere.
An Oswestry Hotel
The hotel's twelve individually designed bedrooms include such features as en-suite spa baths and private patios including wheelchair-accessible rooms.
The hotel specialises in short breaks, whether it be a romantic getaway or a walking holiday, and is one of the few truly pet friendly hotels in Shropshire.
This award-winning hotel in Shropshire is close to the small Welsh Borders town of Oswestry, with it's weekly street market and quirky individual shops.
The hotel tries to combine high standards of service and accommodation with a gentle informality that puts you at ease from the moment you arrive. The hotel is in a truly peaceful hillside location, so the "switch off" factor kicks in the minute you crest the last hill in Shropshire and leave Oswestry behind you. You really do feel "away from it all"! Several bedrooms have en-suite spa baths, others have private patios. The hotel also provides a comprehensive range of spa treatments in the privacy of your own room, and many bedrooms have en-suite spa baths or jacuzzis. Perfect for a relaxing luxury break.
There is also one ground-floor bedroom for those who prefer to avoid the stairs. This Shropshire hotel has won numerous awards, such as the Tripadvisor Award of Excellence (four years running), and the prestigious Good Hotel Guide "Country Hotel of the Year" Award. Pen-y-Dyffryn Hotel also provides one of the most comprehensive range of spa treatments of the hotels in Oswestry. The hotel is conveniently located for six of the many superb and varied eighteen hole golf courses near Shrewsbury and Oswestry.
There are four major National Trust properties within a half hours drive of this hotel in Shropshire, including Powis Castle, Erdigg House and Chirk Castle. The medieval towns of Shrewsbury and Chester are both near by, and Wales' highest waterfall and Lake Vyrnwy are both worth a day's visit. Staying in one of the many hotels in Shrewsbury itself does not offer you such ready access to this glorious Welsh border countryside on the doorstep. We are a pets-welcome hotel.
The town has a slightly Victorian feel about it, and a distinctly Welsh character - you are as likely to hear Welsh spoken as English on market days! Pen-y-Dyffryn is only a hundred yards from the Welsh border and must be one of the few hotels in Shropshire to have such a Welsh sounding address. Before becoming a hotel it was the rectory for the local vicar, who used to walk over the border into Wales to deliver his sermons! There are five superb eighteen hole golf courses within a 20 minute drive of the hotel and reduced green fees for our guests.
