A stroll around the hotel Lily-pond, or just over the border into Wales might be your idea of the perfect pre-prandial activity. But there are few better places to tuck into tea and cake than on the hotel´s terrace. It catches the full force of the afternoon sun, and on fine days you´ll find all our guests out there soaking up the heady rural atmosphere.
Inside the hotel plenty of fresh flowers, log fires at every turn (in winter!), and a distinctly laid-back style, add to the sense of luxury and well being.

Pen-y-Dyffryn was chosen as “Country Hotel of the Year” by The Good Hotel Guide, and “Rural Retreat of the Year” by The Which Hotel Guide. We were also nominated as Johansen´s “Best Value Hotel”, and Harden´s Hotel Guides gave us their top marks throughout, a distinction granted to only 27 hotels in the whole of Britain, Ireland, New York and Paris! Who are we to argue?
The star of the piece, however, is the hotel´s hillside setting facing the Welsh mountains to the west, promising some of the finest sunsets in the land. “Sundowners” are a must!
A retreat and a hotel... all in one.
