There is a wide choice of golf courses in the area offering varied terrain. The three long-established courses are:-
Oswestry Golf Club (01691 610220). On the A5 towards Shrewsbury. A mature, parkland course.
Llanymynych Golf Club (01691 830542). Where Ian Woosnam learnt to play. Tee-off in England, hole out in Wales!
Llangollen (01798 860040). A beautiful parkland course surrounded by mountains in the Dee valley.
Three newer courses have been established and are proving popular:-
Mile End Golf Club (01691 671246). A very forgiving, parkland course.
Chirk Golf Club (01691 774407). Close to Chirk Castle at Chirk. Reputedly the longest par five in Europe!
Henlle Golf Club (01691 670680). A testing parkland course with some water, just north of Oswestry.
All the clubs welcome visitors, but it is best to ring and check that tee-off times are available.
