What a great summer! It can’t go on, of course, and there are signs of Autumn in the air, with temperatures dropping considerably in the last few days. But still little or no rain, the trees and hills still vibrant green, and the sheep and cows (and my wife’s horses) munching contentedly in the fields.
We have visited the four big National Trust properties in the area recently and the gardens are as good as ever. Powis Castle in particular is full of colour, with the late herbaceous perennials coming into their own. Still getting bookings from the great hotel review in July’s Sunday Telegraph so September nearly completely full and we’re filling up for October. Wonder when we’ll have to light the hotel fires?!
