The Berwyns are a range of stunning high mountains located a 20 minute drive from Pen-y-Dyffryn Hotel, on the England and Wales border. They are a beautiful, unspoilt and relatively unknown area of upland, situated in the north-east region of Wales. The area offers some great hill-walking and is rarely busy, even though it is partly enclosed within the Snowdonia National Park.
The height of these mountains is over 800 metres, reaching a height of 830 metres at the impressive summit of Cadair Berwyn – see image above. They also feature Wales’ highest waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr, falling in three stages over a 240-foot cliff-face. This is one of the “Seven Wonders of Wales”.
